Down...but not out!

Hey everyone, we are back from vacation. It was a white Christmas for us at a cozy Wisconsin cabin. It was just what the doctor ordered until Leah broke her left wrist tube sledding on Christmas Mountain.

Here's the story: Dressed in ski pants, ski jacket, and cowboy boots Leah made it to the top of the slope eyeballing the coarse. Tongue out and studying the fastest path down the mountain, She leaped onto the rubber tube expecting to soar down the mountain. When the unexpected happened. Leah bounced off the tube falling forward, hearing a loud crack and feeling tremendous pain. Her tube slid down the hill without her. She was calm...I think in shock...made it down the slope on another tube and walked over to me as white as her jacket. "I think I broke my wrist " She said. I rolled her glove back and sure enough, it was broken. She was such a trooper singing Christmas songs on the way to the hospital trying to keep our friends 5 yr old little girl from getting upset. She is now in a cast and will not be able to write in the blog for about 4 weeks. I will try to fill her shoes until she is better. There is so much to share and I will do my best.

Love and God bless,

Ryan

Ryan,

You are so kind to keep us updated. I, like many, check often to see if there is a new post. I was so grateful for your update.

Poor Leah! Ready to have the time of her life and then she didn't. Sorry to hear of her broken wrist but grateful that bones heal.

We had a snowy Michigan Christmas and glad to hear of your excursion to Wisconsin. Hope it was still fun and romantic even with a cast.

Love and prayers continue for your beautiful family!
Kathy

So sorry to hear about Leah's wrist. I hope she heals quickly. I have been checking the blog frequently to see how you have both been doing. I have been praying for you both during this grieving process. With the exception of the broken wrist I hope that you had a good time together over Christmas and that your healing continues. Please tell Leah I hope her wrist feels better soon. I truly hope that 2009 brings you both hope and healing and love and joy.

Let her know that I am thinking about her. I am still recovering from gall bladder surgery and have been on weight restrictions since Dec 5th and can't pick up anything over 20 lbs until Jan 19th. Definitely a tough recovery, but everyday is a new day. Happy New Year to you both!!

So glad you guys had a great time up in the North! Sorry to hear about Leah's wrist, sounds like she is pretty tuff. Already knew that...whats physical pain? ha!

Let Leah know I am thinking about her, I pray for two all the time.

Wish we would have been able to meet up, one day.

Ryan, you have some pretty big shoes to fill writing on this blog, your wife always captures my attention. I am really excited to hear some updates and I'm sure you'll do just fine.

Ah! Good to catch up with you again. The culture shock from Florida to Wisconsin in Winter? You are two brave souls. A Hoosier speaking here!

I have thought of you and prayed for you over the Holiday. Checked for updates.

Take care Leah!

Leah and Ryan:

Welcome back!! You have been missed. Have checked your blog ever so regularly. Sorry to learn of Leah's painful experience. What a gal - thinking of a child and not wanting her to be afraid while in pain herself. What a dear.

Beautiful photo of you two. So delightful to see smiles. You two look really good.

I hope 2009 is filled with healing, hope, peace, and continued certainty that God still has and always will have good things in store for your lives.

Glad you're back.

So glad to hear from you guys. Looks like alot of fun we used to go tubing at a church camp in Michigan. Sorry to hear about your wrist. Not so much fun to break bones as an adult as it was a kid and get everyone to sign

Glad to hear you had some good time out this Christmas.
Christmas is often the holiday most dreaded when we've had to say goodbye to a loved one, especially a baby that we dreamed of holding and passing around at gatherings.

You poor thing Leah!! I pray for quick and complete healing!

So you guys actually vacationed in WI? That is great. I live in MN and would love to vacation to Hawaii :) I hope despite the broken wrist that you guys were able to have a great time with friends or family (not sure which).

Take care,
Tonia
